Hey friends,
Did you know that in 2024, the average consumer spent about $281.75 per month on impulse buys? That's nearly $3,400 annually! capitaloneshopping.com
I recently challenged myself to a no-spend January! I wasn't trying to jump on a trend, I was just starting to worry that the Amazon driver knew me by name! (I don't think he does!?) There's been a buzz around the "no-buy" trend—a movement where folks commit to not purchasing non-essential items for a set period. It's a way to curb impulse spending and promote mindful consumption.
How did it go? It went well overall, although I did have to buy pants! I actually have a hard time finding pants that fit me and have to try on every pair!—I was desperate and, well, sometimes essentials can't wait! I went to Eclipse, (Canadian Store), and had the best luck!
This experience got me thinking about the importance of supporting our local economy. Buying local not only strengthens community businesses but also reduces environmental impact due to shorter transportation distances. canadianliving.com
Moreover, choosing Canadian-made products ensures quality and supports our national economy. It's a win-win!
So, while the no-buy trend is a great exercise in mindfulness, when you do need to make purchases, consider supporting local and Canadian businesses - Made In Canada
It's a thoughtful way to contribute to our community and economy.
